Talking with “The Boob Group”

I had the great privilege of serving as the expert for an episode of the new online radio show, The Boob Group, all about getting started with breastfeeding your multiples.

In this episode, we discussed some tips for getting breastfeeding off to a great start. My number one tip? GET PREPARED! Take a breastfeeding class, read a book, connect with your local Parents of Multiples group, reach out to a mother-to-mother support group, and/or find a local lactation consultant (IBCLC) whom you can contact with questions. If you run into challenges, don’t wait to get help – be proactive and call your IBCLC  right away. Post the number on the fridge so someone else can make the call for you if your hands are full (which they will be, at least some of the time!).

The Boob Group is hosted by my friend and colleague, Robin Kaplan, Founder of the San Diego Breastfeeding Center, and each episode features a panel of moms with a guest expert discussing all sorts of breastfeeding topics. I’ve been invited to return for a future episode, so stay tuned!

What are your favorite tips for getting started with breastfeeding? What do you wish someone had told you?  Are there topics you’d like to see us address on a future show? Share your thoughts!
